Tips for Organizing Your Car

How much time do you spend in your car?  It is estimated that most Americans spend at least 25 minutes each day commuting back and forth to work.   That doesn’t count the time running to the grocery store, grabbing dinner or just taking care of errands.

If your car is anything like mine, it could probably use a little spring cleaning.  Once you get cleaned how do you keep it that way?  Here are some quick tips.

  • Use an Organizer – There are items that you need in the car every day, use an Organizer to keep the items handy and the clutter at bay.
  •  Stay on Top of Trash – How often do you have to put gas in your car?  Use the time to gather and dispose of all the lose trash.
  • Add Protection – Add vinyl mats to the floor and under kids’ seats.  It is easier to wipe the vinyl then clean the upholstery.
  • Control What Comes to Car – Have rules for yourself and others about what can be brought in the car think about things like food, drinks, and toys.   Make sure that drinks are covered and food is easy to clean up.  If you have kids, have a bag that they can take to the car, if it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t go to the car.  Make them responsible for repacking the bag and taking it inside once you get home.
