One of My Favorite Ideas

I have seen a lot of bags and many different personalization, but this may be my favorite bag ever.  I had a customer who grows her own veggies and was looking for a bag to carry the veggies from her garden to the house.  We came up with this super cute storage tote in Pin Dot.  The color is dark enough that it wont show dirty to quickly and it is large enough to carry the ripe veggies from a small garden.  After picking the bag, we had fun picking the personalization.  Loved Garden Diva and it turned out awesome in the Green Font.

We also order a couple of companion bags, the square utility tote and the the large utility tote.  To keep it fun, we selected different fonts and different colors for all 3 bags.  This has been one of my favorite orders ever.

Real Texas Festival

Spring has been the season of vendor events.  My most recent event was Real Texas Festival in Mesquite.  I had the pleasure of working this event with a group of great Thirty-One gals.  This event was extra fun because of the wind.  I volunteered to go out early and help with the set-up - a job we thought would take just a few minutes.  Well didnt quite go that well.  We were chasing bags every where.

There were some positives for the morning.  We were there in plenty of time to improvise and get some side walls for the tent.  Plus, Suzie got interviewed for the news.  Here is the footage, you can see me in the background trying to keep the bags from blowing off the table which they did several times during the photo shoot.

While we were waiting on the side walls to be installed, I made a trip to the home improvement store.  I bought some heavy duty zip top bags and some sand.  I was the crazy lady standing on the parking lot with a coffee cup filling bags with sand.  I got a lot of strange looks.  I am sure people were thinking what is she doing.

In end, it took most of the day, but we got the booth all set-up.  The sand bags kept the our display mostly in place.  The side walls blocked most of the wind and we got to meet some nice people.

Large Utility Tote

As a gift to myself, I bought a new Large Utility Tote.  I love that I can go to the store and fit all my purchases in my tote without getting any plastic bags.  Makes loading the car and carrying everything in the house a breeze.  Just lift the bag from the shopping cart into the car and carry one bag into the house.  I still have a hand left over for my keys and I can keep up with my three year old.

Did you notice my personalization?  "URU"  I was inspired by the new Thirty-One Gives thermal tote.  I want to tell everyone about the great things that Thirty-One Gives is doing.  It has been interesting, my three year old asks "Mommy is URU really a word?"  My answer it means that You Are You and you are special and there is no one else like you in the whole wide world.  I am not sure that he entirely understands, but hopefully it is something that will stick with him for a long time.

Spring 2012 Premier

I got attend the very Spring Premier that was held at a movie theater.  I can't even begin to describe the excitement of all those in attendance.  It was a big party for girls.  I got to meet some new people and had a great time.  The Premier itself was spectacular.  I am not sure what I enjoyed more - the new products, the cameos on WHY, the commercials or introduction to Thirty-One Gives.

First the new products, we have 10 brand new products for spring which includes 2 items in lux leather and 2 new host exclusive items that are going to be must haves.  Lots of awesome new prints with flowers, a new paisley print and my personal favorite flutter with butterflies.  Plus in you love the pink circle spirals you are going to want the new aqua circle spirals.  Can't wait to have new catalogs to share with everyone.

The WHY cameos were encouraging, heart felt and inspirational.  From the lady who started her 31 business after her husband left her with 2 kids, to the lady who used her Dream Reward points for Best Buy gift cards to buy new computers, so she and her kids could talk to her husband who is in the military serving over seas, to the single mom making money to help her father keep the house they have lived in for 18 years.  So many great success stories and their stories are still unfolding.

The commercials were great.  It was fun to see one of our local directors in her acting debut and the cute puppy in the purse with the scarf had to be the best.

In December 2011, Thirty-One donated more than 250,000 items to children's charities through the Today Show.  At the premier, the new foundation Thirty-One Gives was unveiled.  The goal of the foundation is to help charities benefiting Woman and Girls through out the country.  Part of the announcement included the launch of the URU product line.  The first product is a special zipper thermal tote in Pink Parisian Pop.  A dollar from the sale of each tote will be donated to the Thirty-One Gives foundation.

After the premier it was time to hang out with some of my new Thirty-One friends for lunch.  We enjoyed a nice lunch of Mexican food and exchange stories of our kids and our businesses.  Suzie was very sweet (as always) and presented each of us with a decorated envelope to began saving money for National Conference.  I am excited and hope that I get to go.

January the Month of Giving

One of the awesome things about starting your own business is giving back.  I am proud to be working with an organization that donated over 250,000 products to the Today's Show Toy Drive.  I am also inspired to do my part.

From now through January 13th, I will be conducting My First Annual Fund Raiser.  I will use this thermal tote fund raiser to assist my mom in raising money for her Relay for Life Team - School House Walks.   Cancer is a devastating disease that unfortunately will effect almost all families.

My goal is to sell at least 50 thermal totes during this event.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year.  I wish you a year filled with joy, happiness and love.  May all you resolutions come true and everything your wishing for come your way.

Thank you to all my family and friends for assisting me in starting Sylvia's 31 Shoppe in 2011.  Thank you for all you will do in 2012 to help my business continue to grow.

Many blessing to each of you for 2012.
